Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) has been effective in showing relief for a variety of conditions by improving the body’s natural defense and repair mechanisms. LLLT helps the healing process by reducing injury damage, pain, reduce spasms, and increases range of motion and flexibility of the affected areas. LLLT has been used as an alternative method to pain relief. Through a series of treatments, you will be on the road to a pain-free life.
Some conditions LLLT can treat are:
- Back pain
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Fibromyalgia pain
- Headaches/ migraines
- Knee pain
- Muscle pain
- Muscle spasms
- Neck pain
- Shoulder cuff
- Tennis Elbow
LLLT works through a flashlight size device. The laser is placed over the affected area and sends non-thermal protons of light through the skin. Depending on the size of the affected area, the laser can be in process for 30 seconds to a couple of minutes. Once the light energy hits the affected area, it is absorbed and interacts with the sensitive elements in the cell.
There are either short wavelengths getting disturbed in the tissue from the laser or long wavelengths. The difference is, short wavelengths (632 nm) are absorbed by blood and skin surface components. This limits its tissue penetration. The longer wavelength (830 nm) has a greater depth of penetration because it is not as readily absorbed.
LLLT results have been positive for the patient. Some of the results are
- Increased cell metabolism
- Reduced inflammatory duration
- Increased bone and tissue repair
- Enhanced nerve recognition
What makes LLLT treatment an advantage is that there is no recovery time. This process is done through your chiropractor in a manageable time over a number of sessions with your chiropractor. There is also no medication involved. LLLT is an alternative to medication, and some patients opt out of using medication to ease their pain.
LLLT has been used in clinical practices for years. Chiropractors work with their patients to get them in that pain-free state. LLLT is one of the tools to help you back on the road to recovery.
